Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Obert Skye

Leven Thumps is a normal kid, kind of. OK, Not really. His parents hate him along with basically every other person on the planet. That is before he discovers Clover, a cat-like creature called a sycophant. Clover convinces Leven to come to Foo, a totally different world. Oh and he has to save our world from some crazy lunatic named Sabine.

Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo is funny and full of suspense with every page you turn.

Young Bibliomaniac gives Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo 4 STARS!

what a fun review site!
my daughter absolutely adores the "leven thumps" series. she's finished it actually. but also love's obert skye's book "pillage" as well. being the skye fan that she is, she just about lept out of her skin when she found that obert has published a sequel to "pillage" called "choke." it's on her must-read list.
she'll be so excited to know there's another "leven thumps" fan out there!

How great to see a young man with the love of reading! I have two sons and wish that they'd caught the reading bug! You will never be lonely or bored as long as you have a good book!! Best of luck with your blog...I hope you'll soon have more comments than time to read them!!!

Wow, I'm going to show my 7 yr old this blog! He's a pretty good reader, but I still have to make him do it. :)

Any recommendations for a 7 yr old boy? What did you like at that age?

I love your blog! I am a 4th grade teacher and will show my students your site when school starts. I need to pick a few new books to read aloud to them and will think about your recommendations. Awesome job!

Very impressive!

When I was a kid reading was my ultimate pleasure. Like time traveling. I could not stop reading until I finished a book, which meant that I had to sneak read at night with a flashlight under my covers so my mom wouldn't know I was staying up ALL night. Now you wouldn't do that would you? Great reviews with just enough info to whet the reader whistle and make em want more. Aunt Tami

Wow you and Kelten are like peas in a pod! He has read most of these but there are a couple I will definitely have him check into (after reading your ratings of course). He loves the Leven Thumps series, he got number four for Christmas and will have to wait for his birthday for five but now that it's out it's on the list :) He just finished book four of Fablehaven and so he gets to start book five tomorrow. It is a wonderful series have you read it yet?

This blog rocks!

I have a question that needs answering and I think you're just the guy for the job:

What series and/or books would you recommend for a beginning reader. My 5 year old daughter loves to read and craves mystery and intrigue.

Thank you everyone for all the nice comments you gave me!

To answer a few questions:

Jamie ,
When I was 7 I really enjoyed the author Andrew Clements, he has written books such as Frindle, The Report Card, and much more. I know he'll enjoy them.

Washington RImmasch Family,
I have also read the Fablehaven series and enjoy them too.

Bekah,
I suggest the Magic Tree House series, they might be a little advanced for a 5 year old, but maybe you could read them with her.

You've done a great job with your blog, Easton! I will show it to Hannah. She too loves to read and is always juggling a couple of different books. She'll love to see what books you are reading and what you think of them.

So, I have a question for you. Josh doesn't enjoy reading very much. Do you have any books that you think would catch the attention of a 9 year old boy and keep him interested?

It looks intresting I've seen Leven Thumps all over Barnes and Noble.

Have you read the Redwall series I borrowed it from a my cousin and plan on reading it soon. Have you read it?

Young Bibliomaniac said...

Hi Tharker,
Maybe Josh would like the Baseball Card Adventure Series by Dan Gutman. Does Josh play baseball? The books are about modern kids going back in time and meeting professional baseball players.

Hannah J,
If you like Harry Potter then you'll like Leven Thumps.
I haven't read the Redwall series yet. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the recommendation for Josh. I think he would enjoy that series. He did play baseball this year, and loved it.

You're a great kid, Easton! Thanks!!
